Jonathan Rugg, CFA®

​​I worked at a real estate private equity company through the Great Financial Crisis and had a front row seat for the peak and ensuing trough. This had a profound impact on me as taking too much risk and can have disastrous consequences if someone's assets are not structured to absorb these types of shocks. I witnessed numerous multi-millionaires go broke. I think there is a very real need to help protect and prevent these types of disasters. My experiences in real estate shaped my passion for wealth management—as I saw how our founder, Dr. Donald Rugg, was able to really help clients during difficult market periods. Additionally, I'm a firm believer in real estate as a valuable addition to an overall investment portfolio—a combination of real and financial assets offers more diversification in my opinion. But most people—advisors included—don't properly track or account for these assets in their portfolios. This belief is what led me to join Charlesworth & Rugg, Inc., now Highline Wealth Partners, and help people access private investments like commercial real estate and incorporate it within the context of their total assets.

Jon oversees the day to day management of Highline and is a voting member of the Investment Committee. Jon received a B.S. in Economics from The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania with concentrations in Finance, Real Estate and Marketing. Prior to joining the firm Jon worked in real estate private equity for Urdang Capital (now CenterSquare Capital) in their acquisitions department. Jon has written articles for Institutional Investor and InvestmentNews and was a long time participant in Big Brothers, Big Sisters of Philadelphia. In his free time he enjoys traveling, cooking, outdoor activities, and spending time with his wife, Nina, and sons, Henry and Hayden.

I have attended prior World Cups in Germany, South Africa, Brazil, and Russia. I’m very excited for the next World Cup in North America where I plan to take my family to several matches for the first time.
